Are we failing to understand the nature of our enemies and blinding ourselves to the threats that they pose? Today’s guests address this issue beginning with Nina Shea of the Center for Religious Freedom at the Hudson Institute. Nina first explains the situation in Egypt where the Muslim Brotherhood is not being open about its agenda for the new Egyptian government. It is likely though that broad restrictions and punishments for any expression against Islam will continue to be instituted. These will target women, religious minorities, and political reformers, and further hinder the discussion about freedom of speech in Egypt by essentially taking it off the table. This perverse agenda is only being exacerbated here in the United States with the recent State Department conference with the Organization for Islamic Cooperation.
Ned May, blogger at the Gates of Vienna and Big Piece contributor, addresses the issue of Sharia law. Court cases in Europe have proven that Sharia law is being upheld and thus the question is can the imposition of Sharia happen here too? In Austria, an activist by the name of Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff has been found guilty of hate speech. Her case highlights the point that Muslims can defame Christians and Jews without facing prosecution, but under Sharia law all other faiths are prosecuted for exposing Islam. Similarly in the United Kingdom, the courts have upheld Sharia law by forcing a Muslim mother to give her child up for adoption in order to prevent the mother’s father from carrying out honor killings. It appears that Sharia law is taking precedent over the common law of European countries.
Next Diana West, columnist at the Washington Examiner and author of The Death of the Grown-Up, examines how the doctrine of Sharia law is being enforced in the United States. This submission to Sharia doctrine stems from US counterinsurgency doctrine in which our goal over the years has been to convince the Islamic people, in Afghanistan for example, that we are the “good guys”. Unfortunately this concept has led to increased sensitivity to and accommodation for Islamic norms and practices that have saturated our military training. This has also led to directives such as at the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) that dictate adherence to Islamic law and provide a means for the regulation of American freedoms.
Today’s show concludes with Clare Lopez, Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy and former CIA intelligence officer. Clare explains some recent court cases and documents that point to the connection between the Iranian government and Al-Qaeda. First, a judge ruled in favor of several family members of 9-11 victims because of proven evidence that Iran and Hezbollah provided support to Al-Qaeda for the terrorist attacks. Law firms have joined together to assemble evidence that show this connection too. The U.S. people have a right to know the truth about 9-11 and the U.S. government has the responsibility to hold these members of Iran’s political leadership accountable for their actions.

Clare Lopez spends time with Frank to explain what is happening inside the Islamic Republic of Iran, a thorn in America’s side. Nuclear scientists turning up dead, the destruction of a missile facility and the most recent accident at an alleged weapons research facility; is Iran having a string of bad luck or is there more to these accidents? There seems to be a campaign to destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons program, but is the campaign coming from inside Iran or are there outside forces at work? The shockwave from the explosion at the ballistic missile facility was felt over 30kms away. This facility developed the delivery system needed for Iran’s ballistic missiles that would carry weapons of mass destruction; nuclear, biological or chemical. The buildings within this facility were completely flattened and the Iranian regime has quickly closed ranks around the incident, but there is something brewing within the regime. The regime knows it’s in trouble, the world knows that the people do not support this regime anymore and they must be fearful of being the target from factions inside and outside the country. The friction between the supreme leader and the president has grown showing dissent from within the regime itself. Putting the IRGC on alert shows the insecurity that the regime has against its own people and other nations. Could this insecurity lead to a preemptive strike against American interests? What would a nuclear weapon mean to a regime that is insecure of its own survival? DEA Agent Jeffrey Scott joins Frank to explain the discovery of one of the most elaborate underground tunnels from Tijuana to San Diego. The San Diego Tunnel Task Force was created to combat this growing tactic used by the drug cartels. In the last four years, DEA has discovered around 75 underground tunnels from Mexico into the United States. There are “rudimentary tunnels that are nothing more than gopher holes,” interconnected tunnels that use existing construction such as sewer tunnels and then there are the sophisticated tunnels which are large scale and employ elevators, running water, electricity and other means to support large amounts of narcotics and traffickers. These sophisticated tunnels do pose a problem to investigators do to their complexity and the almost unlimited resources available to the cartels. When agents do discover these tunnels, the seizure is significant and hits the cartels hard. This particular tunnel which was 612 yards long with lights, steel doors and electric cars to carry drugs yielded 32 tons of marijuana with a street value of $50-$60 million which will be difficult for the cartels to replace. With cartels becoming more ingenious, what will this mean for American security? Jim Hanson provides a boots-on the-ground analysis of the situation in Afghanistan. The president has failed to not only provide the troops with the proper resources to ensure total victory, but he failed to create a clear objective for the military to achieve. The Taliban have achieved their objective by waiting the Americans out just like the mujahedeen did against the Soviets. For Secretary of State Clinton to announce that America will play a role in Afghanistan even after the 2014 pull out is just ridiculous because everyone knows that once the Americans leave the Taliban will come back to power and regain all the territory they lost. The Afghan security forces do not have the capabilities to maintain the level of security that America has provided and without completely removing all Taliban opposition, there is no way to ensure future Afghan security. Will American forces return to Afghanistan if the Taliban comes back to power? Why does the president have no interest in securing Afghanistan? And what does the recent developments in the U.S./Pakistan relationship mean for Afghan operations? Jim also explains Leon Panetta’s about-face on the defense cuts and what that means to the troops themselves. How can our troops effectively protect our nation without the proper resources which cost money?

Why would Iranian Special Forces such as the Quds force carry out a strike against a Saudi Ambassador in the United States, especially when the current Obama administration is the most amicable administration towards Iran for the past thirty years? Could the elite Quds force, responsible for networking within foreign terrorist organizations, be the driving force behind the attack? Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy and former CIA officer, Clare Lopez shares with Frank her doubts about the legitimacy of Iran’s involvement in the recent assassination plot against the Saudi Ambassador to the US. Lopez says that the plot played out between the plotter, Manssor Arbabsiar and the FBI. No concrete proof of contact by phone between Arbabsiar and the Quds force has surfaced. In addition, the plot seemed sloppy for a government such as that in Iran, which prides itself on sophisticated operations. Anyone who had complex intelligence collection would have realized that the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Washington, DC are “armed camps,” incapable of destruction merely by plastic explosives.
Clare Lopez continues today’s Secure Freedom Radio examining the motivations and intents behind the attacks. Given that there has always been a deep rivalry between Iran and Saudi Arabia, why would they choose this moment to conduct a strike? As previously noted, the elite Iranian security forces are not known for carrying out careless operations. They have successfully covered their tracks in their involvement in the 9/11 attacks and their connections with al Qaeda networks. According to their historical record, why would they now leave behind traces of their work? Lopez argues that it simply makes no sense and that another force is certainly behind the plot. Statements from the Obama administration have become harsher and more critical of Iran since news of the attack. Perhaps the administration is finally realizing the serious national security threat posed by Iran?
There has been no doubt in the minds of many people that President Obama has made many negotiation and tactical mistakes in regards to Israeli policy. The real question in the debate is how did the United States allow a bid for Palestinian statehood to be submitted to the United Nations? Executive Director for Christians United for Israel answers the question of the role that Judeo-Christians play in the Israeli statehood debate. Brog clarifies that Christian support for Israel is simply based on recent historical record and not on US foreign policy. However, the administration has certainly been too submissive in the matter. Because Obama has mostly abandoned Israel, he has invited further aggression into the region.
David Brog concludes today’s show discussing how faith is being abandoned at an alarming rate among young adults. The percentage of unaffiliated young people is twice the rate of the Baby Boomers. He wonders whether the post-Christianity era is a generation or two in the future. Thus, Christians definitely need to reach out to kids on college campuses and stress the need for faith in their lives.

How have the members of Generation Y been impacted by the ten years following 9/11? Devin Foley, President of Intellectual Take Out, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and mobilizing conservatives and independents about economic and political freedom joins Secure Freedom Radio today to discuss a recent survey conducted by his organization. In this survey, members of Generation Y and moms under 40 were asked how concerned they were about key issues such as national security and foreign oil dependency. The major finding from this poll was that a majority of Generation Y expressed a concern that America had gotten off track on key issues and that foreign oil dependency could threaten US security. Foley says that we should be very worried about this generation. While they were raised to be multi-cultural focused, they are facing a break down of their multi-cultural understanding. However, he believes that young Americans are finally waking up and realizing that the Constitution needs to be upheld in US courts and that a dual law system with Sharia law is harmful to national security. Next, Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow, Sol Stern describes the “drive the Jews into the sea” attitude that Palestine and its neighbors are expressing about Israel at the steps of the UN Security Council. The current initiative by Pakistan to challenge the legitimacy of Israel’s right to existence is presented in a historical lie, says Stern. Palestine has presented the issue as stemming from Israel’s desire to stop the creation of a Palestinian state, whereas it was originally the Arabs who rejected the suggested UN Partition Plan of 1947. Palestine never expressed an aspiration of a Palestinian state, argues Stern, but rather they wanted the complete abolition of a Jewish nation. Moreover, Stern expresses his concerns that if the UN Security Council officially recognizes a unilateral declaration of independence for a Palestinian state, the United States, who would ultimately veto the decision, would be drawn into conflict with the international community and press. Frequent guest here at Secure Freedom Radio and former intelligence officer at the CIA, Clare Lopez joins Frank to examine the latest hearings observing the 9/11 ten year commemoration and how secure the US is ten years after the attack. Lopez states that the major conclusion in the hearing was that al Qaeda had been worn down, but still posed a threat. This is the “understatement of the century,” says Lopez as the hearing failed to recognize that the United States is not just fighting one organization, but battling an entire Islamic awakening. She believes that it is imperative that US senior leaders gain an understanding of the threat posed by civilization and stealth jihad. Furthermore, they must study in depth the overall problem posed by violent and pre-violent extremist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood that are animated by Sharia law. US Representative for California’s 25th District and Chairman of the House Armed Services Commission, Congressman Buck McKeon concludes today’s show discussing the ongoing defense budget debate. The military is currently facing cuts to each of its services, including the 300,000 civilians and military jobs being dissolved. McKeon believes that it is merely cheaper to keep the troops employed in the military rather than spending the Obama administration’s proposed $400 billion training our veterans to enter the workforce after a forcible discharge from the military. Additionally, Rep. McKeon says that the unemployment rate for young military men and women returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is at twenty-two percent, not including those wounded veterans who are unable to find jobs. This is a tough lesson to swallow about the reality of how our troops are being treated. McKeon further argues that if only our ordinary citizens knew the extent to which the cuts had on the well being of our troops who sacrificed so much for our country, then we could save our military from the devastating defense budget cuts.

As the rebels move closer to overthrowing Qaddafi, it remains to be seen what the Transnational Council will make of a new Libya. But what is for certain, says Clare Lopez: “these individuals, first of all, are a motley crew.” What Andy McCarthy calls the “Libya Mujahedeen,” the rebels consist of a strong flicker of Al-qaeda, and after years of authoritarian rule absent the values of pluralism, equality and man-made law, lies only an uphill battle for Democracy. Lopez, a Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy, confirms that Article One of the draft constitution states establishes Islamic law over Libya, with the TNC leading Spokesman a strong advocate of Shariah. Lopez also speaks of Iran’s relationship with Syria and a rivalry with Turkey for the role of regional hegemon. Next, Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, joins Frank to discuss President Obama's “administrative amnesty.” By using Prosecutorial Discretion, a very limited authority necessary for any Executive Branch, the Obama Administration is turning that wiggle room within the law into a matter of policy, contrary to the will of Congress. The policy orders law enforcement to not arrest illegal immigrants that fall in a broad range of categories, and furthermore, those illegal immigrants “in the pipeline,” as Krikorian calls it, of civil proceedings are being released, unless they are a murderer or rapist. The Administration has, in fact, taunted the use of Immigration law only for use in these cases, “like going after Al Capone for tax fraud,” he says. Through “Deferred Action” many are released and able to apply for work permits and Social Security numbers. This growing act of lawlessness denies illegal immigration as a criminal act, and telegraphs the government's acceptance of the practice. So, Krikorian asks, “How can that not lead to more illegal immigration?” Then, Trey Knight, Vice President of Knights Armament, explains his company’s contribution to the war efforts by manufacturing the M110 Sniper rifle, used readily in Afghanistan and Iraq. There is “not another tool that we can put on the ground…that can command the field like a sniper,” says Knight, who describes how this essential weapon has evolved throughout the years. The technological advances of scopes, silencers, lasers and night vision have “taken the gun to a different level,” he says, but ultimately it’s the soldier’s observation, endurance and intelligence that make the gun successful. Through his company’s innovation, the sniper has been able to be turned into a dual weapon, and is saving lives, like Sgt. G below. Finally, Jim Hanson, our weekly “boots on the ground” perspective, wraps the show with his analysis of the developments in Libya: “We may have just traded one crazy Islamist for a collection of crazy Islamists, and I don’t know if that is a net gain.” As it is revealed that billions in Qaddafi’s assets will be transferred from the U.S. to the Transnational Council, Hanson is skeptical that, although the rebels may “get nicer tents” and be “riding around in range rovers,” not much good will be bought for the U.S. The former Green Beret also comments on the report of the CIA assistance to the NYPD in conducting covert monitoring of Muslim mosques. Hanson praises the efforts, hopes it can avoid the PC stigma and that it will find public support, adding, “Dearborn, Mich. PD could probably use this help, too.”

“When they stone a woman for being an adulterer, they aren’t throwing aspirations, they are throwing stones…” That is what Andy McCarthy has to say to people who feel Sharia is not a real threat, just aspirations from a small community. Clare Lopez speaks on the escalating threat from Iran and what America must do to combat it. Roger Noriega looks at the mess in Mexico, including ATF’s Operation Fast and Furious which has people scratching their heads as to what is happening within the ATF. Andy McCarthy gives his take on the Republicans and Sharia, will they get it right?

A decrease in the apprehension of illegal immigrants but an increase in that of narcotics does not equate to a more secure border than ever, as the Obama Administration claims. Anthony Kimmery of Homeland Security Today, who spent a month on the Mexican border, talks with Frank about the administration’s use of an allowable quota for illegal immigrants to “cook the books.” Claire Lopez, Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy, discusses the International Atomic Energy Agency’s latest report regarding Iran’s undeniable pursuit of a nuclear weapon, as well as its leadership’s pursuit to hasten the return of the 12th Imam, and a possible alliance with Hugo Chavez and Venezuela. Amin Ismail and Bokthok Siyr discuss the oil-rich Sudan border town of Adiyah in which the North and South are vying for control. Finally, Jeff Smith of the American Foreign Policy Council informs on the Islam identity crisis in Pakistan, and the conflicting forces within the Pakistani Taliban.

First, Clare Lopez discusses the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood as a result of this “Arab Awakening” throughout the Middle East. Next, Caroline Glick talks about the dissent into “strategic dementia” under the Obama Administration. Then, Debra Burlingame, a representative of the 9/11 families, discusses the trials of detainees at Guantanamo Bay; although the 9/11 suspects will not be tried as of yet and when they are brought to trial, it will be in federal court and not military. Finally, Andy McCarthy discusses the so called “rebels” in Libya who should be called “Libyan Mujahedeen” because they are actually groups of Islamists with ties to terrorist organizations. Also discussed is the fact that the majority of insurgents in Iraq have come from Libya and how this operation is unconstitutional due to a lack of imminent danger to the US and therefore the president needed the approval of Congress.
