Is the upcoming United Nations vote to recognize Palestinian statehood a “grand deflection” to keep the world’s eyes off the true crisis of the moment, Iran? Claudia Rosett, Journalist-in-Residence at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, joins Frank to discuss the “raft of problems” associated with September’s UN General Assembly vote. To start with, the UN does not grant statehood. Rosett explains the vote, which already failed in the Security Council earlier this year, is just the latest episode in a long propaganda campaign by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League and the “usual gang” steering the UN’s agenda, to delegitimize Israel. “This is about squeezing Israel,” says the Pajamas Media columnist, and a “bid to create a terrorist state.” Then, Congressman Louie Gohmert, of Texas, discusses the “now we run” strategy in Libya, where backing the rebel government is analogous to Jimmy Carter’s welcoming of the Ayatollah Khomeini as a “man of peace.” “These are not people that like us,” says Rep. Gohmert. Although the sentiments in Libya are troubling, there are encouraging signs in the House of Representatives, where Gohmert sits, including a new bill to correspond our level of influence at the UN with our level of funding. The Congressman, a former judge, also discusses President Obama’s Executive rule by waiver, “where the rule of law is tossed aside and it’s not equal application of the law it’s who you know that gets you by,” he says. Next, Frank welcomes back Patrick Byrne, of Overstock.com, to Secure Freedom Radio to give the bird’s eye view of economic warfare. Byrne explains the settlement system, designed 20 years ago to computerize our economy, built with inherit flaws, ones that can be exploited by our enemies. Osama Bin Laden once said, “I know the cracks in the Western financial system better than I know the cracks in my own hand,” and Byrne details how Hamas, Hezbollah, the Russian mafia, Genovese and others have manipulated the market. Byrne, President and CEO of Overstock, documents the mortgage fraud schemes by al-Qaeda in 2008 and concludes by telling us what we can do to thwart this threat. Finally, Contributing Editor of National Review, Andy McCarthy discusses his latest column where he describes the descent of major cities in Europe into Islamicized enclaves. McCarthy describes the ideological falsehood that terrorism has no impetus behind it, which has guided these cities into “voluntary apartheid.” Malmo, Amsterdam, Rome and Brussels have all lost the sovereignty of their governments to Islam not by those acts of terrorism, but systematically by way of Civilization Jihad. Muslims are urged to relocate to the West, not assimilate, what Turkey’s Prime Minister calls a “crime against humanity,” and infiltrate its laws and bureaucracy. The former prosecutor and author of The Grand Jihad explains how the U.S. can avoid the same fate of Europe by coupling outreach with intelligence gathering like the NYPD has done in New York City.

On today’s edition of Secure Freedom Radio, Frank is concerned that while we may be distracted by hurricanes and earthquakes, our country continues on course toward European style multiculturalism and “diversity,” allowing groups like the Muslim Brotherhood to systematically destroy the West from within. Call him crazy, he says, but as the Director of National Intelligence relies on Muslim Brotherhood for “advice, counsel and wisdom,” the new Obama strategy for local law enforcement requires collaborating with enemy front organizations, and Hillary Clinton works with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to curb expression that will have “negative consequences for Muslims,” Frank merely points out the sinister goals of these organizations, namely a global caliphate. While the Left collaborates with totalitarian states, Frank is inclined to listen to the warnings of Mark Steyn, Bat Ye’or and Andy McCarthy who are not disillusioned by a post-modernist and post-nationalist ideology that capitulates to civilization jihad. It is past the time for Americans to awaken to the dangers of Shariah. Caroline Glick, of the Jerusalem Post, joins Frank to discuss the recent attacks on Israel from the Sinai Peninsula, where the Egyptian military is turning a blind eye to the increasingly lawless area. Once a buffer for Israel’s security, the August 18th attack from Sinai has proved the nefarious situation our ally finds itself in the wake of Egypt’s Arab Spring. The Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs at the Center for Security Policy says Israel must resist requests to amend its longstanding peace treaty with Egypt, which would only invite more aggression from its adversaries. Glick also informs on the upcoming UN General Assembly vote for a Palestinian state and why “anything less than a complete veto would be unacceptable” from the President. Next, Luke Bencie, Managing Director of Security Management International, explains the growing phenomenon of industrial espionage and how he protects government and business from this little known threat. In this past year, $300 billion in intellectual property was stolen or attempted to be stolen. Whether state-sponsored or private industrial espionage, “old school KGB” style thieves are stealing secrets and selling to the highest bidder, says Bencie, whose company works to equip companies to meet this risk. Bencie, the public point-of-contact for all new business inquires at SMI, also gives tips for keeping your secrets safe given the many ways we are vulnerable as “gaining access to your email information while you’re ‘WiFi-ing’ in the lounge is pretty easy to compromise,” he says. Finally, Gordon Chang, of Forbes, gives us his weekly China update, where the latest wikileaks cable could prove the most detrimental to America’s security. The document, sent by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last January to the embassies of Australia, Britain, Canada and New Zealand, warned against an impending Chinese nuclear missile launch. The question Chang asks is how did we know? With a retired People’s Liberation Army General, Xu Guangyu, stating “if China could no longer keep secret its missile launches, it would not be able to launch a surprise attack on the US,” it is clear what the Communist country has been planning and “we ignore at our own peril,” says Chang.

Friday Aug 26, 2011
As detailed in a new article released by the Associated Press, the New York Police Department is partnering with the CIA to move covertly into Muslim areas. This united front between local law enforcement and a major government intelligence agency, is being used as a form of monitoring dangerous activity in an effort to rake out pre-violence in religious extremist communities in and around New York City. While some believe that this method of intelligence collection is illegal, others think that it is simply enlisting partners in the fight against violent extremism in the United States. In a very moving monologue, Frank expresses his feelings on the article, as well as his disapproval of Hillary Clinton’s appeasement of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. A study by the Department of Homeland Security entitled “Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Extremism,” just reinforces his suspicions about the growing threat of homegrown terrorism. Additionally, He cites how it is important for the country to model their counterterrorist strategies after the NYPD. President of the US Business and Industry Council, Kevin Kearns joins Secure Freedom Radio to discuss the current “American Invents Act,” which will change over two hundred and twenty years of innovation in the United States. “It is throwing out Article 1, Section 8, Clause 8 of the US Constitution,” says Kearns who believes that the act is merely a method of protecting the interests of big businesses. Kearns argues that multi-national corporations who wish to harmonize American standards with the European system are ramming the patent reform bill through Congress. The major change in the bill is eliminating the “first to invent” clause that has been in practice since the 1790 Patent Act. This system not only established who was the first to invent a system, but also gave them the exclusive right to the invention itself. This is the true end of American invention as we know it, believes Kearns. Next, Fouad Ajami of Stanford University’s Hoover Institution shares his enthusiasm for the revolution in Libya and how his hope is boundless for the Libyan people. He expresses his joy that the so-called “big time terrorist who hijacked the Libyan country” Qaddafi is finally a hunted man. The Libyan people have shed themselves of the cruelty of this man and of the thievery of his sons. Ajami reminds us; however, that the Arab people made these despots and are now trying to cleanse themselves of the leaders whose names they used to chant in the streets. These are merely “rebellions of shame” says Ajami. His criticism of the past Libyan leadership was short lived, as his hope for the new Libya soon consumed any doubt. He believes that the new Libya will have an easier time to adapt to a new regime, as it has many favorable neighbors. Lastly, Fouad Ajami offers a quick comment on the terrible situation unfolding in Syria. Regular guest here at Secure Freedom Radio and National Security Editor for the Washington Times, Bill Gertz concludes today’s show talking about the Pentagon report on the military build-up occurring in China. Gertz warns Frank of the threat posed by the Chinese military’s progress in modernizing their forces. He believes that they will become a true regional force by 2020. This situation is even direr given that the US is facing defense cuts. The current administration is filling key China posts with appeasers who believe that China is a strategic partner with the US. This logic is flawed, says Gertz, because China will never be a strategic partner of the US.

From the recent hackings of Google e-mails to the infiltration of defense contractors, the Chinese have essentially declared cyber war on the United States. Not only are they openly and actively stealing trade secrets, but they are also hacking into our intelligence computers. It is about time that we recognize their declaration of war and finally deal with this problem posed by China’s high tech mafia, says Congressman Ted Poe of Texas’s 2nd district. Congressman Poe, who wrote an article in the Washington Times on this subject, is one of the first to openly suggest that the Chinese government backs these Mafioso-like crimes such as the intelligence hackings and counterfeiting of American products. These “thieves of American products,” as Poe describes the Chinese, are proactively making a profit out of counterfeiting our commodities at the expense of the US manufacturing industry. Additionally, Congressman Poe examines with Frank the “backdoor amnesty” policy of the Obama administration that is allowing 300,000 convicted illegal immigrants to walk free. This policy is an apparent disregard of the laws of the land put forth by the Legislative Brank of the United States government. Next, Executive Director of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, Michael Toscano joins Secure Freedom Radio to give us his insight on the air, ground, and maritime unmanned systems being implemented in military warfare. According to Toscano, the unmanned system that flies, drives, and navigates makes up only thirty percent of the enitre system. The other seventy percent is comprised of collection and processing data centers. While many people believe these systems are in themselves more effective and efficient than human operators, Toscano argues that these robotic machines are merely an extension of the eyes, hands, and ears of humans. They allow the operators to stand off at a distance for a longer period of time than they would if they were in the environment themselves. He also explores the commercial processing applications of these unmanned systems. In the third segment, Professor of Political Science at Grover City College, Paul Kengor surveys the domestic spending problem in the US that has duped many political leaders into thinking defense should be cut. In a recent graph displaced by Kengor that shows federal spending from 1789 until 2016, the federal government did not decrease overall domestic spending from 1960 until 2006. The government did, however, greatly downsize the military budget, which left us unable to fulfill Reagan’s policy of peace through strength. Furthermore, Kengor argues that in today’s world we must have the capability to commit to two wars at one time. Founder and President of the American Islamic Forum on Democracy, Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, concludes today’s show discussing the lack of true representation that Muslim Americans have in today’s US politics. He states that while only thirty percent of Muslims in America are affiliated with any group, one-half of those affiliated are aligned with Muslim Brotherhood front groups such as CAIR. Additionally, he urges those Muslims who came to this country to escape Islamist extremists need to be awakened and identify with more moderate groups.

Wednesday Aug 24, 2011
As the rebels move closer to overthrowing Qaddafi, it remains to be seen what the Transnational Council will make of a new Libya. But what is for certain, says Clare Lopez: “these individuals, first of all, are a motley crew.” What Andy McCarthy calls the “Libya Mujahedeen,” the rebels consist of a strong flicker of Al-qaeda, and after years of authoritarian rule absent the values of pluralism, equality and man-made law, lies only an uphill battle for Democracy. Lopez, a Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy, confirms that Article One of the draft constitution states establishes Islamic law over Libya, with the TNC leading Spokesman a strong advocate of Shariah. Lopez also speaks of Iran’s relationship with Syria and a rivalry with Turkey for the role of regional hegemon. Next, Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, joins Frank to discuss President Obama's “administrative amnesty.” By using Prosecutorial Discretion, a very limited authority necessary for any Executive Branch, the Obama Administration is turning that wiggle room within the law into a matter of policy, contrary to the will of Congress. The policy orders law enforcement to not arrest illegal immigrants that fall in a broad range of categories, and furthermore, those illegal immigrants “in the pipeline,” as Krikorian calls it, of civil proceedings are being released, unless they are a murderer or rapist. The Administration has, in fact, taunted the use of Immigration law only for use in these cases, “like going after Al Capone for tax fraud,” he says. Through “Deferred Action” many are released and able to apply for work permits and Social Security numbers. This growing act of lawlessness denies illegal immigration as a criminal act, and telegraphs the government's acceptance of the practice. So, Krikorian asks, “How can that not lead to more illegal immigration?” Then, Trey Knight, Vice President of Knights Armament, explains his company’s contribution to the war efforts by manufacturing the M110 Sniper rifle, used readily in Afghanistan and Iraq. There is “not another tool that we can put on the ground…that can command the field like a sniper,” says Knight, who describes how this essential weapon has evolved throughout the years. The technological advances of scopes, silencers, lasers and night vision have “taken the gun to a different level,” he says, but ultimately it’s the soldier’s observation, endurance and intelligence that make the gun successful. Through his company’s innovation, the sniper has been able to be turned into a dual weapon, and is saving lives, like Sgt. G below. Finally, Jim Hanson, our weekly “boots on the ground” perspective, wraps the show with his analysis of the developments in Libya: “We may have just traded one crazy Islamist for a collection of crazy Islamists, and I don’t know if that is a net gain.” As it is revealed that billions in Qaddafi’s assets will be transferred from the U.S. to the Transnational Council, Hanson is skeptical that, although the rebels may “get nicer tents” and be “riding around in range rovers,” not much good will be bought for the U.S. The former Green Beret also comments on the report of the CIA assistance to the NYPD in conducting covert monitoring of Muslim mosques. Hanson praises the efforts, hopes it can avoid the PC stigma and that it will find public support, adding, “Dearborn, Mich. PD could probably use this help, too.”

Tuesday Aug 23, 2011
Known Muslim Brotherhood front groups such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim American Society have portrayed themselves as the true “gate-keepers” to the American Muslim community in the United States. Their perversion of the American political system misguide gullible government officials who believe that pleasing these organizations will satisfy the overall American Muslim population. However, according to a recent poll, only one-fourth of the American Muslim population feels like one of these groups represent them ideologically. Founder and Chief Editor of Worldthreats.com, Ryan Mauro joins Secure Freedom Radio to challenge the general wisdom that Americans hold that only foreign-born Muslims can become indoctrinated with extremist ideals. He suggests that it is the American-born Muslims who want the separation between church and state minimized and not necessarily foreign-born Muslims. Additionally, he examines how Syrian opposition activists feel that the US is outsourcing power to Turkey. Chris Isham, Director of Plans and Policy J5 at the Joint Interagency Task Force West of US Central Command explores the mission of JIATF-West in combating drug trafficking schemes in the Asia-Pacific theater. JIATF-West coordinates with Southern Command and government law enforcement to disrupt transnational shipments of narcotics. By reducing drug crime in the region, the Task Force has successfully disrupted 96 metric tons of meth and the flow of other pre-cursor chemical flows in the Asia-Pacific region. Furthermore, the Task Force’s main objective is to stop the transnational crime organizations, not just the drugs being transported. Today on Frank Gaffney's Secure Freedom Radio, Frank has a special visit from Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut to give us an inside look into his new book, The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath. In his book, he describes a typical Sabbath day in the Lieberman household where they observe common Jewish traditions. Senator Lieberman wrote the book particularly for Christians who hope that in their busy lives, they can find a reason to put aside everything and spend time with their family. “There is growth in rest,” says Lieberman. At the end of each chapter, there is a small section entitled “Simple Beginnings,” where he outlines ways in which people who want to begin observing the Sabbath can do so; step by step. Lastly, Sen. Lieberman gives us his take on the end of the Qaddafi regime and how the “boots on the ground” opposition will help bring about his fall. Regular guest here on Secure Freedom Radio and Contributing Editor for National Review Online, Andy McCarthy touches on his suspicion that the Libyan rebels are not necessarily friends of the United States, as well as how Libya sent more jihadists to Iraq than any other country. He also hopes that when the rebels draft a Constitution, Shariah will not be established as the law of Libya.

Amb. Yoram Ettinger, Ken Jenkins, Richard Holm, Gordon Chang
Monday Aug 22, 2011
Monday Aug 22, 2011
Former Israeli Ambassador Yoram Ettinger joins Secure Freedom Radio to discuss the upheavals in the Middle East, namely in Libya with the recent reports of Qaddaffi’s imminent fall. While some praise the so-called “Facebook revolutions,” Amb. Ettinger explains why the tribal, ethnic and religious fragmentation of the region will not allow for a march to Democracy. The rise of the rebel forces in Libya may be another example of the ascendancy of radical elements due to America’s eroding posture. A consultant to Israel’s Cabinet, Ettinger explains why the elections in Egypt will be very telling for the future role of the Muslim Brotherhood, and also how Sinai is rapidly becoming a “mini Afghanistan” with a surge of terrorist attacks, making it apparent that the U.S. and Israel secure victory in the region, not coexistence or cease fire agreements. Ken Jenkins, Deputy Special Agent in Charge, Criminal Investigation Division, U.S. Secret Service, heads the counterfeiting branch, a task that poses new challenges in the digital age. Jenkins breaks down the distinctions between foreign and domestic counterfeiting and and tells of the work he is doing to combat it. The agency was first established for this purpose, has since seized over $129 million in fake counterfeit bills through “Project Colombia,” and also works against cyber crime and identity theft. Counterfeiting is most prevalent in Colombia and Peru, with the Peruvian note appearing most in the U.S. Agent Jenkins, a 20-year veteran of the Secret Service, also explains how investigations are underway into possible counterfeiting originating from Hezbollah and North Korea. Then, Richard L. Holm, former station chief for the CIA, joins Frank to discuss his new book, The Craft We Chose: My Life in the CIA, an account of his work within the agency beginning in 1961, at the height of the Cold War. Holm explains why intelligence gathering is infinitely more difficult today than in the past. “You simply don’t meet these guys at a cocktail party,” says Holm, about our enemies in the War of Terror, as Jihadists transcend national borders. The recipient of the Distinguished Intelligence Medal, the highest award the agency can bestow, Holm also details his courageous story working in Laos and the Congo, where a plane crash left him stranded for 10 days. Suffering from severe burns covering 30 percent of his body, only a balm made from snake fat from the Natives saved his life. His remarkable story magnifies the importance of human intelligence in warfare, and is demonstrable of the valor of our clandestine services. Finally, after the Mr. Biden goes to China excursion, Gordon Chang, of Forbes, recaps the venture in which the Vice President made his best attempt at placating the Chinese. Chang explains why his efforts only “made the Dragon’s ego bigger,” in a culture that respects strength, not weakness. Our resident expert on all things Asia discusses how the Communist structure prevents any transfer in leadership from impacting the government, saying “you could put the Pope in as General Secretary of the Communist Party” and nothing would change. He also notes that America is encouraging all the wrong tendencies in China by not selling F-16s to Taiwan, and predicts more protests will spring up in the country.

Friday Aug 19, 2011
Today, thousands of bikers began riding from Somerset, Pa., on their way to Ground Zero to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the victims of 9/11. It is events like these that Angie McCrary, Outreach Manager for Semper Fi Fund, gets the opportunity to take part. McCrary joins Frank to explain the important work the foundation is doing to support our Marines and Sailors. Started by Marine spouses in 2004, the Semper Fi Fund provides the crucial life-long support for our injured servicemen at their most vulnerable. Fully funded by private donations from patriotic citizens and corporations, Semper Fi Fund is able to conduct community events, like the Jerabek Challenge, a 4-mile run to honor the service of Pfc Ryan Jerabek, USMC who gave his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Next, Walid Phares, Professor at the National Defense University, gives us a much needed update on the Middle East. Phares explains the situation in Libya, where the dual rebel forces, made up of secular former bureaucrats and Islamist militia, seem to be gaining ground. Then, Phares reports on his birthplace Lebanon where Hezbollah officials have been linked to the assassinations of government officials. And finally, the author of The Coming Revolution: Struggle for Freedom in the Middle East, explains that struggle where in the wake of authoritarian regimes lies a race for power between democratic partners and the Muslim Brotherhood. Then, Ed Walby, Director of Business Operations for Northrop Grumman, joins Secure Freedom Radio for a special segment spotlighting the Block 30 Global Hawk UAV. The superior UAV has just reached initial operational capability and will replace the U-2 spy plane in future missions. The Generation Three Global Hawk can hover at 60,000 feet for upwards of 36 hours, surpassing the U-2's 12 hours, the limit of what a human pilot can endure. Because of its flight ceiling, the Block 30 Global Hawks can fly beyond the range of enemy fire, and also reduces threat levels to personnel and costs. Walby explains how the UAV helped the Japanese after the Tsunami and nuclear meltdown, and its huge successes operating over Libya and Afghanistan. Finally, Washington Times Reporter Bill Gertz gives us his take from "Inside the Ring" regarding Vice President Biden's "getting to know you tour of China." As China builds up its military and becomes more aggressive throughout East Asia, Biden will try to schmooze the regime on the debt crisis and an arms deal with Taiwan. He then informs on how the Pentagon is in line for "merciless" cuts amidst a shrinking Navy and cries from even Leon Panetta who is warning about slashing defense. Gertz also explains how Putin and his KGB cronies are nefariously seeking to restore the Soviet Union.

Major TG Taylor, Amb. John Bolton, Michael Rubin, Andy McCarthy
Thursday Aug 18, 2011
Thursday Aug 18, 2011
Were the elite SEAL Team forces that crashed in a CH-47 Chinook helicopter earlier this month sent on a rescue mission or were they sent simply to implement a hammer and anvil operation? Media Chief for US Central Command (CENTCOM), Major TG Taylor joins Secure Freedom Radio to examine the investigation, led by Army Brig. Gen. Jeffery Colt, being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Major Taylor believes that the important findings of this investigation is not whether the troops were conducting a rescue mission, but rather to capture the lessons learned in order to protect future troops from the same fate. In his generic assessment of the situation in Afghanistan, the crash neither reflected the troops’ lack of assets or the Taliban’s gaining success in the region. Rather, Taylor argues, the troops understand their purpose of being in the country and the exact significance of properly training the Afghan national security forces. These forces, likewise, are responding in supportive and professional manners in order to ensure the success of our mission in the region. Next, Former UN Ambassador and Senior Fellow at AEI, John Bolton expresses his worries that the base line $500 billion in cuts for the upcoming fiscal year will have immediate and staggering consequences for US national security. These cuts will both embolden the malicious ambitions of our enemies and weaken our ability to defend ourselves abroad. Ambassador Bolton also calls for the Tea Party to recognize the serious threat that these cuts will have for the safety and well being of Americans across the globe. The budget negotiations failed to protect our security as well as failed to uphold Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, which outlines the need for strong national defense. Lastly, Bolton discusses the Law of the Sea Treaty and how putting American resources under the authority of an international court is extremely risky business. Michael Rubin, of the American Enterprise Institute, untangles the messy situation in Turkey where ten percent of the generals are imprisoned on corruption charges. These imprisonments eliminated the last system for checks and balances on the growing Islamist drive within Turkish leadership. Rubin compares the situation in Turkey to that of Pakistan prior to the 1970s. This dismantling of secular military leaders poses a serious threat to the transfer of military technologies from the United States to Turkey. Furthermore, Turkey has begun to engage in anti-ballistic missile system technology trades with Russia and China. Finally, Contributing Editor for the National Review Online and regular guest here at Secure Freedom Radio, Andy McCarthy enlightens us on the recent accusations by the Council on American-Islamic Relations that Governor Rick Perry of Texas is a “friend of Sharia.” McCarthy is hesitant to believe the allegations put forth by CAIR and will hold back judgment of any kind until Gov. Perry develops concrete positions on the issues. In addition, he shares with us his new article about the sneaky maneuvers by Iran to garner more support for the Muslim Brotherhood in the Middle East.

Rev. Rick Joyner, Roger Noriega, Rowan Scarborough, Jim Hanson
Wednesday Aug 17, 2011
Wednesday Aug 17, 2011
Rev. Rick Joyner kicks off today’s program by introducing his efforts to unite and equip Christians through The Oak Initiative. Two years ago, Joyner hosted a three day seminar to bond the Christian Church together in a time of great crisis morally, spiritually and economically. In these times, “we need to know what we believe,” says Rev. Joyner who as President of the foundation seeks to educate Christians on the crucial issues of the day, including Islamic Extremism. Through the Initiative Christians are uniting across the spectrum, and standing firm against the “Chrislam” movement, that seeks to combine both religions. “We have a responsibility as Christian leaders to defend the truth,” he says as he adamantly rejects the notion that Allah is the same God of the Bible. And he is bold in his defense: “Our Jesus is not coming back to kill all Christians who do not submit to Islam.” Roger Noriega, of the American Enterprise Institute, joins Frank to discuss the latest news from Latin America, including the breaking reports that members of the Venezuelan regime are looking to move $29 billion in reserves out of the country to banks in Russia and China. Noriega breaks down what such a move would do to the Venezuelan economy and what exactly these Chavistas have in mind. The founder of InterAmerican Security Watch also explains how Venezuela has acted as a broker between Argentina and Iran, in which the Islamic Republic is after Argentina’s nuclear market. Although Congress has brought considerable attention to this activity, the State Department shows no sign of curiosity and is “blind and content to be blind about what Iran is up to in this hemisphere.” Then, National Security Journalist Rowan Scarborough, of the Washington Times, dissects the series of mistakes that led to the helicopter crash in Afghanistan, the worst loss of life endured throughout the war. As details continue to emerge, questions remain regarding the justification of the mission and Scarborough insists they need to be asked given the possibility that our forces are ill-equipped in Afghanistan. The best-selling author of Rumsfeld’s War claims this risk “means we cannot afford to take a procurement holiday” in defense, which makes the automatic trigger to its budget even more alarming if no agreement is reached by the Supercommittee. Jim Hanson, however, laments the “armchair quarterbacking” that has followed the Osama Bin Laden raid and the failed helicopter mission, in which large amounts of operationally secure information has leaked to the press. “I don’t think we know and I don’t think we should know,” says Hanson about what led to the helicopter crash. He argues by releasing these details the safety of our special forces and their families will be compromised. Another subject that has left Hanson in a “scathing mood” is the use of the funerals for the Seal Team Six members as a photo op for the President. Against the family’s wishes, a White House photographer captured “a beautifully framed photo of Obama attempting to make a salute” says Hanson, who calls it a disgrace to capitalize on the deaths our combat troops.
