Is it true that non-Muslims simply do not have the religious depth to understand the true meaning of the writings in the Quran? Director of the Center for the Study of Political Islam, Bill Warner stopped by Secure Freedom Radio to discuss a recent series of books that he published about the doctrine of Islam called the Taste of Islam. Being a physicist, Bill Warner does not delve into the religious underlining of Islam, but rather the strategic way it has been used to manipulate non-Muslims in the Western world. As Westerners, Americans have been told three lies about Islam. Is it true that we were not able to identify such lies before because Islam is just too complicated for us to understand or have we been relying strictly on Muslim experts who portray it as such? By researching the issues and the Quran itself, Warner has tried to simplify these same works and understand them, as those illiterate Muslims would have back in the time of Mohammed.
Is there any sense in responding to the media coverage and academics that push false rumors about what is occurring in the Middle East, especially in Israel? Lies and misrepresentation permeate the current news coverage of the events in the region. Many journalists continue to depart from the facts and show no interest in the truth. Barry Rubin of the GLORIA Center in Israel continues this discussion with Frank. He argues that a large number of policy makers ignore the fact that revolutionary Islamist forces are expanding their influence in the Middle East, especially in Turkey and Iran. Additionally, how much do these journalists truly realize the threat from revolutionary Islamist forces? If policymakers and journalists continue to rely on a falsehood, then the United States will have no chance of solving the growing violence in the region.
One of the leading experts on Africa, Peter Pham brings to attention the new war starting in Africa. The President of the United States recently announced that he would send special ops into four nations in Central Africa to battle against rebel forces such as the Lord’s Resistance Army led by Joseph Kony. Why is the President implementing the War Powers Act in conflict, while he neglected to do so in the Libyan conflict? What is the scope of the mission in this conflict? Is it simply to protect civilians from the atrocities committed by the Lord’s Resistance Army or is there a deeper purpose?
What is the true problem in Iran? Should the United States be more worried about its nuclear program or the regime itself? Featured guest at Secure Freedom Radio and Contributing Editor at National Review Online, Andy McCarthy concludes today’s show highlighting the true threat in Iran. How do we continue to deal with an enemy dedicated to the destruction of the US? For the sake of US national security, toppling the Iranian regime should be the US’s top priority.

How will the hallowing out of the US military by the Obama administration impact the future of American military operations abroad? Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney and the founder of the organization, Government Reform Through Technology, sparks conversation with Frank about the recent defense budget cuts. Lt. Gen. McInerney recounts his experiences during the Carter administration, where he served as a special assistant to Ambassador Robert Komer, as well as served as a wing commander in the Philippines. During his time in the Philippines, he says that the military buildings had no electricity in the summer and that the power would go on and off during the rest of the year. His soldiers’ dorms did not even have air conditioning. Thus, he saw the lowest moral ever amongst those men serving under him. While the Carter administration gutted daily operations, the Obama administration is going one step further and gutting the US’s industrial base. They have already canceled production of the F-22 and are looking to reduce the budget by an additional $350 billion. The real problem of these cuts, argues Lt. Gen. McInerney, is that the administration does not have a clear strategy on how to build the US budget. Therefore, they are cutting whatever they can.
Next, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, Reggie Littlejohn comes to the microphone for the first time here at Secure Freedom Radio to give us an insight into the horrific implications of the One Child Policy in China. Women’s Rights Without Frontiers is an international coalition that works to combat abortion, sexual slavery, and gendercide in China. It is estimated that over 400 million babies, mostly female, have been aborted since the start of the 1978 One Child Policy. Littlejohn’s institution is the leading organization in terms of documenting and spreading the word about the truth of China’s One Child Policy. They have exposed the coercive policy through true reports of the forced abortion and sterilization of Chinese women. As an attorney, Littlejohn represents a majority of these Chinese refugees who have suffered greatly under the policy. The policy not only violates basic human rights, but also has created 37 million more marriageable men unable to find wives.
Retired Lt. Col. Bob Lawler, ITT Corporation’s Business Development Manager, continues today’s Secure Freedom Radio to discuss ITT’s Common Infrared Countermeasures Program. Lt. Col. Lawler stresses the need for the military to implement a system that would provide helicopters with a defense against air missiles. Not only does the military depend on these helicopters to move supplies, but they are also the most effective means of transporting combat soldiers. By using this Common Infrared Countermeasure Program, the US would help our soldiers better survive military attacks in the future. The problem posed by most small man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems is that they are hard to detect, but easy to deploy. Therefore, the military needs to first implement a method of detecting these missiles. ITT Corporation’s system first detects the missile’s launch and then induces into it tracking errors that make it fly off course. A major factor in the widespread implementation of such a system is the high costs. However, as more and more commercial technologies develop, the cost for such systems will decrease.
How consequential is al-Awlaki’s death and was it Constitutional? Contributing Editor for National Review Online and weekly guest at Secure Freedom Radio, Andy McCarthy concludes today’s answering these questions. Al-Awlaki’s death was enormously consequential, argues McCarthy, as he was the inspiration and motivation for many of the past terrorist attacks in the United States. Those who contend that he was at most a cheerleader for the organization do not fully understand how Islamist terrorism works. Al-Awlaki was the person within the terrorist organization who spearheaded the religious rational. Additionally, anyone who is a serious scholar of Constitutional law would understand that his killings in wartime adhered to Constitutional principals.

Will the reality of a Russian government run by the admittedly authoritarian Vladimir Putin translate into a hurdle for the Obama administration? Frank opens today’s Secure Freedom radio with his thoughts on the subject. When Putin officially becomes President again, this will be the first time in Moscow since 2000 that Russia will acknowledge that there is no power center besides this one man. The Obama administration, as displayed in the past, is completely helpless in stopping this authoritarian rule from continuing. The current administration’s policy towards the Russian government has been based on appeasement of its leaders. Thus, Russian strategic forces are being upgraded with new weapons, as the United States must downgrade its own. By passing the New START treaty, the Obama administration has stopped any production for new nuclear technology and has only forced the US to cut up our long-range nuclear weapons. Why are we allowing such an atrocity to occur while the Russians are able to keep their short-range missiles? Next, the 20th Secretary of the Air Force, James Roche joins Frank to educate us on the situation unfolding in the Air Force and Navy due to defense budget cuts. According to Roche, the current situation is not unlike that of the Carter administration. Since the Reagan administration, American presidents have continued to use existing material while not replenishing the resources. Therefore, the Navy and Air Force have shrunk dramatically and most of our equipment has become outdated. Additionally, Congress has prohibited any solider in uniform from making an acquisition decision. This is an example of how bureaucracy tries to find fault with everything, including the defense budget. This is merely a lack of understanding history, argues Roche, who uses the example of Britain’s once all mighty naval power. By following the socialist trends in Europe, the United States will continually weaken their naval and military power. Only if the United States continues to be strong in national security, can we continue to hold onto our self-reliance. Contributing Editor for National Review Online and weekly commentator on Secure Freedom Radio, Andy McCarthy discusses his desire and America’s need for a competent President during these trying times. In the words of Ambassador John Bolton, President Obama is the “First Post-American President,” who is rejecting American exceptionalism and innovation. McCarthy fears what Obama will do in the one and a half years that he has at the helm of American leadership. Now, in order to gain more financial backing for his re-election campaign, he is catering his policies more towards the Jewish minority. Hurting the situation, the President maintains an ignorant view of foreign policy in regards to Palestine. His administration believes that most Palestinians are in favor of an Israeli state, whereas data suggests that over 90% of Palestinians in their early teens through early 30s deny that Israel has a right to exist. How can our leaders expect the numbers to be any different when it is as central to the Palestinian identity that Israel needs to be destroyed as the First Amendment is to Americans? Research Fellow and Counselor to the Director at the Hoover Institution, David Davenport gives us a legal lesson on the qualifications for statehood. Currently in international law, there is no clearly defined test to determine whether a territory is or is not a state. There is also no clear body that has the power to recognize a nation as such. However, there are four traditional criteria that determine the legitimacy of a state. The two most important of these criteria are that the state must have a clearly defined territory and have control over this territory. Palestine does not fulfill either of these requirements; therefore, it cannot be considered for statehood. Davenport thinks that the reason they are asking for statehood now is due to their frustration with the Two-State Agreement failing between the cracks.

What will President Obama do in the wake of a unilateral declaration of independence by Pakistan and why is he not stepping forward to say no before the official vote? Author of the book, Underdogma: How America’s Enemies Use Our Love for the Underdog to Trash American Power, Michael Prell joins Secure Freedom Radio to discuss how the Leader of the Freedom World is demonstrating a lack of moral clarity. According to Prell, “Israel needs a friend who will stand up and protect her,” rather than a leader that hides behind the United Nations. Prell believes that the President should absolutely and aggressively support the wishes of the American people. These wishes include the seventy percent of Americans who support Israel and its mission. Supporting these Americans, is “the easiest political call to save your behind, Mr. President,” urges Prell. Furthermore, as the most powerful man in the world, Obama needs to stand with Israel, so that America and the world can stand with him. Next, Former Secretary of the Navy under the Reagan administration, John Lehman enlightens us on his recent article commemorating 100 years of US Naval Aviation. In this article, Lehman describes the particular culture of the pre-WWI daredevils to the current US Navy. He says that it is this rare culture in the US Navy that allows naval aviators to be cool under pressure and make quick informed decisions during high-risk situations. This culture of “swagger” in the US Navy is currently under attack by groups that want the Navy to conform to stringent guides of political correctness. This was apparent during the Tailhook scandal in which more than 100 aviators were let go after allegations of sexual harassment. Additionally, Lehman talks defense budget. He believes that the US must fix the way we are spending our money. Instead of supporting the bloat of bureaucrats, we should focus more on maintaining our modern naval aviation in order to continue to provide security in international waters. Shaun Waterman of the Washington Times gives us his insight into the recent intelligence hearings in which the US intelligence agencies were “bullish about our successes against the center of al Qaeda in the Afghanistan and Pakistan border.” However, Waterman states that there still is not a clear-cut US strategy when dealing with the Muslim Brotherhood, which is an offshoot of the al Qaeda ideology. While the US might have successfully combated al Qaeda physically, we have yet to develop a good method in killing the extremist ideology. Waterman also shares with Frank his thoughts about a recent testimony this week by North Korean defectors. He says that the interesting aspect of their testimonies were the extreme methods in which they tried to get anti-Communist messages into North Korea. Contributing Writer to National Review Online and weekly regular guest at Secure Freedom Radio, Andy McCarthy concludes today’s show discussing the “Arab Spring” movement in the Middle East and their attitude towards US involvement in the region. According to McCarthy, more than 80% of Muslims in the Middle East continue to follow Islamist ideology or hold an al Qaeda attitude in which they want to establish an Islamist state and not a state based on Western liberalism.

Tuesday Sep 13, 2011
Frank kicks off today’s show with his thoughts. Next, Principal at DC International Advisory and former US State Department official, Christian Whiton, joins Frank to discuss the recent travels of the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkey is engaging Egypt in actions that could be used to undermine support for Israel in the region, says Whiton. He believes that the democratically elected leader, Erdogan, is looking to increase his popularity by downgrading relations with Israel. Furthermore, Whiton argues that the US Department of State’s chiding of the Israel-Turkey tensions wrongfully implies a moral equality between the two formerly friendly nations. Turkey is the apparent aggressor in the situation, he reveals. An increased tension between Israel and Syria is not novel news, however, as Syria has for a long time had ill intensions towards Israel. Additionally, Whiton enlightens us on the UN’s engagement in the Palestinian-Israeli statehood disagreement and the problems a unilateral declaration of independence by Pakistan would mean for the international community. Former US Ambassador to the Organization of American States, Visiting Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and our go to guy on Latin American affairs, Roger Noriega visits with Secure Freedom Radio to give us his insight into the December 2012 presidential elections that will happen in Venezuela. He expresses his fears that the opposition will not have enough time to mobilize a nation-wide election if the elections are moved up to March 2012 due to Chavez’s battle with cancer. Noriega also states how the Chavez regime is “bracing for the impact” that will occur in the wake of Hugo Chavez’s potential death. These initiatives include moving $29 billion of international reserves from banks in Britain and the US to China and Russia, as well as moving $9 billion in gold back to Venezuela. Moreover, Noriega hashes out his concerns of the mining uranium efforts in Ecuador and other countries that could be used to support nuclear efforts by Iran. Andy McCarthy of National Review Online concludes today show examining the 9/11 remembrances that occurred over the weekend. McCarthy believes that the official recognition ceremony was botched and not that big of a deal, whereas the private observances are more meaningful for the American public. In his view, government’s first impulse is to continually overcorrect; such as in the case of Mayor Bloomberg who was so fearful of media backlash that he banned any recognition of faith on the sacred ground of Ground Zero. He also discusses how the mission in Afghanistan has become incoherent, as the Obama administration is ambient about the Taliban. The original aim of the government in Afghanistan, says McCarthy, was not to topple the Taliban, but to have the Taliban surrender to them al Qaeda. When they refused, the US government decided that the Taliban must be toppled.

Tuesday Sep 06, 2011
Tuesday Sep 06, 2011
In 10 years after 9/11, where do we stand? “Basically we are still in 1942,” says Dr. Walid Phares. Phares, Professor at the National Defense University, joins Frank for two segments to discuss the state of America and the Middle East in the War on Terror, 10 years removed. “Not only the enemy is not defeated, the enemy is not even identified,” he says, remarking how in the three years after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States had both recognized and secured victory against Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan in the Second World War. Shaped by campuses, the media and the bureaucracy, today the national dialogue merely asks, “Is Jihad 24/7 Holy War, or Yoga?” Phares continues his discussion by detailing the “neo-Ottoman” rise of Turkey, and its increasing tensions with Israel. The author of The Coming Revolution: Struggle for Freedom in the Middle East explains the “Erdogan Flotilla,” and what we should be weary of in the region, from Gaza to Syria. Then, Gordon Chang provides his weekly China update, and delves into their “Gangster trade.” By ignoring environmental rules and imposing export restrictions, China is capturing virtually all the world’s rare earth production. These materials are vital to advanced weapons technology, and China is “engaging in every predatory trade practice imaginable” to secure these valuable resources, and make the U.S. military beholden to the Communist regime. Chang then explains why we should kick out Huawei, the telecommunications company founded by a retired People’s Liberation Army Officer, and the latest on Iran’s nuclear program. Finally, weekly commentator Andy McCarthy, Contributing Editor of National Review, also considers the condition of America 10 years after 9/11. McCarthy is pleased that contrary to campaign promises, the Obama Administration has bought onto the counter-terrorism strategy of Bush and Cheney, by keeping Guantanamo Bay open, maintaining military tribunals and increasing the use of predator drones, putting us in a better place than we were ten years ago. However, on the Ideological front, “we are in a much worse position,” he says. “We’ve made great progress against the militant Jihad and the ‘Soft Jihad’ is making great progress against us, unfortunately,” he concludes. The author of The Grand Jihad, also comments on the successes of the NYPD thanks to Commissioner Ray Kelly’s intelligence-based counter-terrorism, derived from “the quaint notion that the police actually have to do the police work” in keeping the greatest target in the U.S. safe, nearly 10 years and counting.

Tuesday Aug 30, 2011
Tuesday Aug 30, 2011
Is the upcoming United Nations vote to recognize Palestinian statehood a “grand deflection” to keep the world’s eyes off the true crisis of the moment, Iran? Claudia Rosett, Journalist-in-Residence at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, joins Frank to discuss the “raft of problems” associated with September’s UN General Assembly vote. To start with, the UN does not grant statehood. Rosett explains the vote, which already failed in the Security Council earlier this year, is just the latest episode in a long propaganda campaign by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League and the “usual gang” steering the UN’s agenda, to delegitimize Israel. “This is about squeezing Israel,” says the Pajamas Media columnist, and a “bid to create a terrorist state.” Then, Congressman Louie Gohmert, of Texas, discusses the “now we run” strategy in Libya, where backing the rebel government is analogous to Jimmy Carter’s welcoming of the Ayatollah Khomeini as a “man of peace.” “These are not people that like us,” says Rep. Gohmert. Although the sentiments in Libya are troubling, there are encouraging signs in the House of Representatives, where Gohmert sits, including a new bill to correspond our level of influence at the UN with our level of funding. The Congressman, a former judge, also discusses President Obama’s Executive rule by waiver, “where the rule of law is tossed aside and it’s not equal application of the law it’s who you know that gets you by,” he says. Next, Frank welcomes back Patrick Byrne, of Overstock.com, to Secure Freedom Radio to give the bird’s eye view of economic warfare. Byrne explains the settlement system, designed 20 years ago to computerize our economy, built with inherit flaws, ones that can be exploited by our enemies. Osama Bin Laden once said, “I know the cracks in the Western financial system better than I know the cracks in my own hand,” and Byrne details how Hamas, Hezbollah, the Russian mafia, Genovese and others have manipulated the market. Byrne, President and CEO of Overstock, documents the mortgage fraud schemes by al-Qaeda in 2008 and concludes by telling us what we can do to thwart this threat. Finally, Contributing Editor of National Review, Andy McCarthy discusses his latest column where he describes the descent of major cities in Europe into Islamicized enclaves. McCarthy describes the ideological falsehood that terrorism has no impetus behind it, which has guided these cities into “voluntary apartheid.” Malmo, Amsterdam, Rome and Brussels have all lost the sovereignty of their governments to Islam not by those acts of terrorism, but systematically by way of Civilization Jihad. Muslims are urged to relocate to the West, not assimilate, what Turkey’s Prime Minister calls a “crime against humanity,” and infiltrate its laws and bureaucracy. The former prosecutor and author of The Grand Jihad explains how the U.S. can avoid the same fate of Europe by coupling outreach with intelligence gathering like the NYPD has done in New York City.

Tuesday Aug 23, 2011
Known Muslim Brotherhood front groups such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim American Society have portrayed themselves as the true “gate-keepers” to the American Muslim community in the United States. Their perversion of the American political system misguide gullible government officials who believe that pleasing these organizations will satisfy the overall American Muslim population. However, according to a recent poll, only one-fourth of the American Muslim population feels like one of these groups represent them ideologically. Founder and Chief Editor of Worldthreats.com, Ryan Mauro joins Secure Freedom Radio to challenge the general wisdom that Americans hold that only foreign-born Muslims can become indoctrinated with extremist ideals. He suggests that it is the American-born Muslims who want the separation between church and state minimized and not necessarily foreign-born Muslims. Additionally, he examines how Syrian opposition activists feel that the US is outsourcing power to Turkey. Chris Isham, Director of Plans and Policy J5 at the Joint Interagency Task Force West of US Central Command explores the mission of JIATF-West in combating drug trafficking schemes in the Asia-Pacific theater. JIATF-West coordinates with Southern Command and government law enforcement to disrupt transnational shipments of narcotics. By reducing drug crime in the region, the Task Force has successfully disrupted 96 metric tons of meth and the flow of other pre-cursor chemical flows in the Asia-Pacific region. Furthermore, the Task Force’s main objective is to stop the transnational crime organizations, not just the drugs being transported. Today on Frank Gaffney's Secure Freedom Radio, Frank has a special visit from Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut to give us an inside look into his new book, The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath. In his book, he describes a typical Sabbath day in the Lieberman household where they observe common Jewish traditions. Senator Lieberman wrote the book particularly for Christians who hope that in their busy lives, they can find a reason to put aside everything and spend time with their family. “There is growth in rest,” says Lieberman. At the end of each chapter, there is a small section entitled “Simple Beginnings,” where he outlines ways in which people who want to begin observing the Sabbath can do so; step by step. Lastly, Sen. Lieberman gives us his take on the end of the Qaddafi regime and how the “boots on the ground” opposition will help bring about his fall. Regular guest here on Secure Freedom Radio and Contributing Editor for National Review Online, Andy McCarthy touches on his suspicion that the Libyan rebels are not necessarily friends of the United States, as well as how Libya sent more jihadists to Iraq than any other country. He also hopes that when the rebels draft a Constitution, Shariah will not be established as the law of Libya.

Major TG Taylor, Amb. John Bolton, Michael Rubin, Andy McCarthy
Thursday Aug 18, 2011
Thursday Aug 18, 2011
Were the elite SEAL Team forces that crashed in a CH-47 Chinook helicopter earlier this month sent on a rescue mission or were they sent simply to implement a hammer and anvil operation? Media Chief for US Central Command (CENTCOM), Major TG Taylor joins Secure Freedom Radio to examine the investigation, led by Army Brig. Gen. Jeffery Colt, being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Major Taylor believes that the important findings of this investigation is not whether the troops were conducting a rescue mission, but rather to capture the lessons learned in order to protect future troops from the same fate. In his generic assessment of the situation in Afghanistan, the crash neither reflected the troops’ lack of assets or the Taliban’s gaining success in the region. Rather, Taylor argues, the troops understand their purpose of being in the country and the exact significance of properly training the Afghan national security forces. These forces, likewise, are responding in supportive and professional manners in order to ensure the success of our mission in the region. Next, Former UN Ambassador and Senior Fellow at AEI, John Bolton expresses his worries that the base line $500 billion in cuts for the upcoming fiscal year will have immediate and staggering consequences for US national security. These cuts will both embolden the malicious ambitions of our enemies and weaken our ability to defend ourselves abroad. Ambassador Bolton also calls for the Tea Party to recognize the serious threat that these cuts will have for the safety and well being of Americans across the globe. The budget negotiations failed to protect our security as well as failed to uphold Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, which outlines the need for strong national defense. Lastly, Bolton discusses the Law of the Sea Treaty and how putting American resources under the authority of an international court is extremely risky business. Michael Rubin, of the American Enterprise Institute, untangles the messy situation in Turkey where ten percent of the generals are imprisoned on corruption charges. These imprisonments eliminated the last system for checks and balances on the growing Islamist drive within Turkish leadership. Rubin compares the situation in Turkey to that of Pakistan prior to the 1970s. This dismantling of secular military leaders poses a serious threat to the transfer of military technologies from the United States to Turkey. Furthermore, Turkey has begun to engage in anti-ballistic missile system technology trades with Russia and China. Finally, Contributing Editor for the National Review Online and regular guest here at Secure Freedom Radio, Andy McCarthy enlightens us on the recent accusations by the Council on American-Islamic Relations that Governor Rick Perry of Texas is a “friend of Sharia.” McCarthy is hesitant to believe the allegations put forth by CAIR and will hold back judgment of any kind until Gov. Perry develops concrete positions on the issues. In addition, he shares with us his new article about the sneaky maneuvers by Iran to garner more support for the Muslim Brotherhood in the Middle East.

Tuesday Aug 09, 2011
Tuesday Aug 09, 2011
Could the old Chinook aircraft supplied by the National Guard to answer a call for help from US military men have been the cause of the tragic helicopter crash in Afghanistan that killed 30 US soldiers, including 22 elite Navy SEALs? Former US Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence, Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin joins Frank to reflect on this event and how he believes that the crash was a result of the dated Boeing Chinook being used in assault operations. He also discusses that the change in strategy from traditional military build-up to a focus on implementing Special Forces will be detrimental to protecting the United States from the threats of our enemies. Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation and one of the leading authorities in the US on arms control, Baker Spring enlightens Secure Freedom Radio on the two major elements of the debt-ceiling bill: the cuts happening now until 2021 and the cuts that will happen if the Super Committee fails in approving further cuts. Moreover, he probes into the failure of Congress to establish a permanent baseline for defense cuts. Spring also offers his opinions on the Russian reset mechanism being employed to explore US weaknesses and advance Russian interests. Next, Editor of The Jerusalem Post and Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy, Caroline Glick comments on the social protests instigated by the radical left in Israel. She examines how the protests are an example that the leftist media can easily manipulate the public. Glick further probes the issue of the deregulation of industries in Israel over the past 20 years and the media’s role in shielding the public from an explanation of the advantages of a free market economy. Contributing Editor for the National Review Online and weekly guest on Secure Freedom Radio, Andy McCarthy concludes today’s show by discussing his recent article, “Christie’s ‘Crazies.” McCarthy enlightens us on how New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, recently appointed an Islamist, Sohail Mohammed, as an attorney in New Jersey’s Superior Court.
